The U.S. Navy plans to allow same-sex marriages in military based chapels. They are moving forward with this transition from the present gays and lesbians serving openly in uniform. Gays may officiate at same-sex marriages or civil unions depending on the local laws and their religious organization. Sixty three members of Congress have asked for the change to be blocked. These members feel federal property and employees should not be used to perform marriages that are no recognized by federal law. Do agree with this new plan? Why or why not?
Navy PlanI do not agree with this new plan. I think if a person is gay and in the navy they should not tell people. The federal law does not even recognize same-sex marriages. Therefore, the people are not even really married. The Navy should not become involved with any of this. The marriages should especially not be performed at military based chapels.
I agree with Chelsea, if a person serving for our country is gay or lesbian they should keep it to themselves. There is no law stating that they have to tell others, is there? If I had a bunk next to a lesbian I would feel very uncomfortable sleeping next to them. And exspecially letting them get married in military based chapels?! That's not a good idea at all to me.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Chelsea. No matter what branch of the service a homosexual person may be in they should just keep their personal life out of their job. They have no reason to tell the people they work with their personal life and it could honestly make things difficult for others wo might be uncomfortable and feel threatened about it. They should be allowed to get married in the military chapels either the law doesn't recognize it so they military shouldn't either
ReplyDeleteI agree with Chelsea. The military is just as much a job as an office work place is. The same rules still apply. A homosexual person should keep their personal life out of their job.
ReplyDeleteI agree with chelsea. Every homosexual should keep their personal lives to themselves. Nobody wants to know and it can cause problems in a work place. It can cause crucial problems in the military.
